The Department of English offers courses from freshman composition through graduate seminars. English majors may take courses in literature, English linguistics, creative writing, rhetoric and composition, and technical communication. Through teaching and mentoring, our award-winning professors prepare the next generation of scholars, teachers, artists, and citizens.
At ¸£Àû¼§, English students develop skills that are applicable to many careers, including research, analysis, critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. English majors develop careers in various fields, including technical writing, teaching in middle and high schools, editing and publishing, internet content development, and higher education.

¸£Àû¼§â€™s College of Education has achieved two major milestones thanks to Alexis Argueta. The English and education double major was the first student to represent the university at the state level during the Texas Association of Future Educators’ annual meeting, followed by her taking of third place in the national children’s literature competition at the 41st Annual Teach Tomorrow event.
