Building the Future of Medicine

Pathway Programs are designed to inspire, support, and guide students on their path to becoming physicians. Each program targets a different stage in the academic journey, from high school to college, offering exposure to the medical field, academic and social support, mentorship, and guidance through the application process.

PROGRAMS

TSUS Physician Pathway Early Acceptance Program (TSUS PEAP)

The TSUS Physician Pathway Early Acceptance Program (EAP) is a collaborative partnership between the Texas State University System and the ¸£Àû¼§ College of Osteopathic Medicine (¸£Àû¼§-COM). This rigorous pathway identifies high-performing undergraduate students from participating Texas State System Institutions and provides them with a structured roadmap to medical school admission. 

Mission: Our goal is to prepare future physicians for the demands of medical education through academic enrichment, professional development, and direct mentorship. Successful participants receive a conditional offer of acceptance to ¸£Àû¼§-COM, allowing them to focus on their academic growth and professional identity formation. 

Program Benefits 

  • Mentorship: 1:1 pairing with a current ¸£Àû¼§-COM Student Doctor. 
  • Enrichment: Access to tailored programming and workshops, including professional development, anatomy demonstrations, volunteer opportunities, and clinical skills activities.
  • Support: MCAT preparation assistance provided by ¸£Àû¼§-COM and annual summer internship opportunities. 
  • Early Admission: Upon meeting all program requirements, receive an early offer of acceptance to ¸£Àû¼§-COM's DO program.

Application Eligibility: Applicants must meet the following strict standards to be considered for admission: 

  • Residency: Must be a Texas Resident
  • Academic Standing & Classification: Rising sophomores in good academic standing at a participating undergraduate institution with a minimum of 30 semester credit hours completed. 
  • GPA Requirements: Minimum overall GPA of 3.60 and a minimum BCPM (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math) GPA of 3.50. No prerequisite course grade required by ¸£Àû¼§-COM can be lower than a C. 
  • Coursework: No grade lower than a "C" in prerequisite coursework. 
  • Conduct: No misdemeanors, felonies, or institutional actions on record.

Participant Eligibility: Once accepted, program participants must meet the following criteria or be subject to dismissal:

  • Residency: Participants must remain Texas residents. 
  • Academic Standing: Participants must be in good standing and enrolled in at least 12 credit hours each fall and spring semester.
  • Graduation: Participants must complete a bachelor's degree by the time of matriculation to the ¸£Àû¼§-COM. 
  • GPA: Participants must maintain a minimum overall GPA of 3.60 and a minimum BCPM (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Math) GPA of 3.50. No prerequisite course grade required by ¸£Àû¼§-COM can be lower than a C. 
  • MCAT: After receiving a conditional acceptance, participants must achieve a minimum MCAT score of 502 within three attempts. 
  • Application Materials: All required TMDSAS application materials, including Acuity Insights, must be submitted. 
  • Criminal/Institutional Record: Participants must not have any misdemeanors, felonies, or institutional actions on their record. 

Applications open for ¸£Àû¼§-COM's inaugural cohort of TSUS Physician Pathway Early Acceptance Program participants in May 2026.

Mentors in Medicine (MIM)

This mentoring program pairs ¸£Àû¼§ undergraduates with ¸£Àû¼§-COM student doctors for semester-based events and guided career preparation. Topics include academic planning, testing strategies, and what it takes to succeed in medical school. 

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must complete application and attend information sessions to be considered. 

  • Residency: Must be a Texas resident.
  • Academic Standing: ¸£Àû¼§ undergraduate student with interest in medical education or healthcare (i.e. Pre-Med, Biomedical Sciences) 
  • GPA Requirements: Minimum 3.25 Overall GPA and 3.25 BCPM (Science) GPA.

  • Mentorship: 1:1 pairing with a current ¸£Àû¼§-COM Student Doctor. 
  • Enrichment: Access to anatomy and clinical labs, application workshops, and other activities.
  • Professional Development: Opportunity to shadow clinical faculty at ¸£Àû¼§-COM run clinics.

UCANDO Medicine Camp

Interested in a future in medicine or healthcare? The UCanDO Medical School Camp provides campers with a hands-on look at what it’s really like to become a future health professional. Hosted on the ¸£Àû¼§-COM campus, this day camp provides students with the opportunity to learn directly from medical students and faculty through interactive activities and informational sessions.

Campers explore topics like anatomy, osteopathic medicine, clinical skills, and teamwork while asking questions, building confidence, and connecting with others who share the same career goals. Along the way, campers will get a better understanding of the path to medical school and how to prepare for a career in healthcare. 

For Parents & Guardians:

The U Can Do Medical School Camp is a supervised, educational program hosted by the ¸£Àû¼§ College of Osteopathic Medicine. The camp emphasizes academic exploration, mentorship, and personal growth in a safe and supportive environment. Students are guided by trained medical students, faculty, and staff while participating in structured activities designed to promote learning, confidence, and responsible engagement with healthcare topics. This program reflects ¸£Àû¼§-COM’s commitment to outreach, access, and preparing future healthcare professionals through early exposure and mentorship.

JAMP & ¸£Àû¼§-COM HS Pre-Health Professions Summer Camp

Curious about becoming a doctor or working in healthcare? The JAMP & ¸£Àû¼§-COM HS Pre-Health Professions Summer Camp provides a unique opportunity to better understand the pathway to medical school. Designed for high school students, this camp helps you explore what it takes to pursue a career as a physician while learning in a supportive and engaging environment from real medical students. 

During the camp, you’ll interact with medical students, faculty, and healthcare professionals and learn about the journey to medical school including how the  might be the perfect pathway for your future career goals as a physician.

For Parents & Guardians:

The JAMP & ¸£Àû¼§-COM HS Pre-Health Professions Summer Camp is a grant-funded, educational outreach program hosted in partnership with the ¸£Àû¼§ College of Osteopathic Medicine. The camp provides a structured and supervised learning environment focused on academic enrichment, career exploration, and mentorship. Students are guided by trained medical students, faculty, and staff while participating in age-appropriate, hands-on activities that promote responsibility, professionalism, and interest in healthcare careers. This program supports JAMP’s mission to increase access to medical education and prepare students for long-term success in the health professions. 

The 2026 JAMP & ¸£Àû¼§-COM HS Pre-Health Professions Summer Camp application will open in June 2026.
