Research consistently shows that the traditional lecture-style classroom approach has lower success than active teaching methods. Keeping students engaged and facilitating the learning experience requires a variety of techniques. These student-centered techniques result in improved student outcomes and persistence, and higher student satisfaction demonstrated with higher IDEA scores and lower DFQ rates for instructors that employ them in their classes.
